„Design, Build and Fly“ is the phrase under which Stuttgart hosts the fifth Air Cargo Challenge in summer 2015. Young, dedicated students present their model aircraft, designed and developed by themselves, in an exciting competition with student associations from all over Europe.
A powerful team, good ideas, great ambition and a lot of technical finesse are the foundation for success. Technical aspects aside, project management, team leadership and presenting your own ideas are very important too. By participating in the Air Cargo Challenge, you can implement your individual ideas together with a team of your choice.
Tinker on your own, sophisticated model aircraft and show what you have learned at university. Benefit from this big challenge and grow personally. Demonstrate that setbacks can’t hold you back and always focus on your goal: to see your plane fly and maybe already dream of victory?

In order to have a fair and exciting competition, this event will have a few design parameters as well as guidelines for the aircraft. Each flying model will be equipped with the same motor. The weight and size will be limited as well, to give every team, independent of the budget, the opportunity to take home the trophy.
This time, we decided to make a slight change on the scope of the competition. In the last years, the goal for the aircrafts was to carry as much weight as possible, time did not matter. This year, you will have to design your model for a more realistic mission. The important figure for air transport is (usually) not the maximum payload, but how much payload you can transport in a given time. Therefore, the score of your run will depend on your payload as well as your speed.
